Virginia Ballet Company and School is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization. With your help Virginia Ballet Company and School can continue its mission of providing accessible and affordable professional quality performances to enhance the cultural interest and education of the people living in the Metropolitan area.
Over the past few years Virginia Ballet Company and School has increased it’s student enrollment;however, our expenses continue to dramatically rise for everything from out rent, utilities, salaries and costs of productions.
Your donations to Virginia Ballet Company and School will aide not only with the rent, utilities and salaries but also more pecifically with the following:
- Maintenance and up keep of our facility
- Ability to increase advertising for the school and our productions
- Ability to improve the design and quality of our production programs
- Ability to continue improving the caliber and scale of our productions
- Rental of theater/performance venues and the technical stage crew
- Rental, designing and purchasing of new backdrops, repairing the old

- Making new costumes for productions, repairing the old
- Building new sets and props for productions, repairing the old
- Sponsorship of master classes, seminars and guest artists
- Sponsorship of new works of art
- Support to our Founding Directors Scholarship Awards and the Michelle Gary Scholarship Award

The Tupine Memorial Scholarships were established by the Board of Directors to honor the memory of our Founding Directors. The Tupines' dedicated their lives to ballet and Virginia Ballet Company and School, which enriched the lives of many. It was the Tupines' desire, as well as the Board of Directors, that Virginia Ballet Company and School continue in the founding spirit of providing high caliber dance instruction and quality ballet productions for the community.
| Tatiana Rousseau Tupine Memorial Scholarship: is a merit-based scholarship awarded in recognition of exceptional achievement by a higher level student in the past year. |
| Oleg Tupine Memorial Scholarship: is a merit-based scholarship awarded to male students in recognition of exceptional achievement by a higher level student in the past year. |
| Michelle Gary Memorial Scholarship: is a merit-based scholarship awarded in recognition of exceptional achievement by a higher level student in the past fall through spring semester.
Michelle Gary, a promising young dancer with the Virginia Ballet Company and School, died in a fire at her home in Annandale, Virginia, on February 3, 1976, along with two other members of her family. In response to this tragic accident, a scholarship was established through private donations. |
